Professional Experience:
2004 – actual Amteus Plc USA Business Development Vice President
Responsible for starting the North American sales operations in anticipation of IPO. I brought to the company Advisors as John Perry Barlow and the actual Director of the board Aynur Unal Ph D. I started the business partnerships with Sanmina SCI, ATT labs, Nec, Shell, AOL among others. My participation and guidance was fundamental in order to achieve a successful IPO of the company that was completed last 18th Jan and in which I was granted 470,000 share options.
2000 – 2004 Minorplanet Systems S.A. President & CEO
At the end of 1999 I created a company in Spain called Movildat that created the technology now in use by Minorplanet Plc that bought Mobildat SA in year 2000. I took the revenues of that company from 0 at creation to 25 million Euros on 2004 when I resigned as CEO

In collaboration with the Institute of Technology of Madrid University and Professor Pedro de Miguel UPM-DATSI, and Professor Georges Abou-Jaoude from the Institute of Technology of Lausanne, Switzerland. EPFL I found this company dedicated to System Integration and SW development for Government Contracts. Amongst the major contracts and customers of Eurogis are:
In 1994 the company is acquired by Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas. Today the company operates under the name of Espelsa, S.A. and has revenues of over 450 Million Euros
1987 – 1989 Masscomp España S.A.
Managing Director. Masscomp España was the 100% owned subsidiary of Masscomp Computer Corporation, a company from Cambridge, MA that was bought in 1989 by Concurrent Computer Corporation, Inc. Both sold systems very focused on Real Time Systems and Data Adquisition. Ramon took revenues from 0 when the subsidiary in Spain was opened in 1987 to 870 Million Pesetas in 1989
1984 – 1987 Informatica y Educación S.A.
Founder and Director. Distribution Channel for Secondary Education Computer needs. Developed a Local Area Network for Commodore 64 and integrated an Author Software for teaching requirements including the Basic Programming Language. More than 200 Secondary Schools both Private and Public bought the system including the Jesuit Education Board in Spain.

Ramón Leonato has been an active and very creative entrepreneur since he left his research activity within the academic environment with which he has kept and maintained relationships and has cooperated with Madrid Institute of Technology (UPM), Computer Science Department and the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) in most of his development projects along his career as an entrepreneur.
He got his MBA while he was working on his first business project back in 1983, El Pais de los Microordenadores, a retail chain for the sale of Spectrum, Commodore VIC 20 and 64 personal computers, and other Apple compatible computers of the time. He has also actively participated in the creation, and management and development of several non profit organisations, among them he is the president since 1981 of the Spanish Meditation Society, an organisation dedicated to teach meditation techniques that has been active in introducing these strongly preventive therapies in several major hospitals in Spain and that has a sister organisation here in the US called the American Meditation Society.
Ramon Leonato was part of the team that together with David Schell supported the creation of Open GIS Foundation, that lately became the Open GIS Consortium and that had a very important role in standardising access to Geographical Data all around the world. He pioneered the introduction in Spain of GIS technology through the company he founded EuroGIS. Euro GIS grew from 0 to 15 M USD revenues in only three years, and today is a major defence contractor in Spain with more than 200 M USD revenues and that operates under the name Espelsa. Ramon sold Euro GIS to the FCC group back in 1994 after winning several major contracts with the government of Spain particularly The Mission Planning System for Air Combat Aircrafts for MoD, The National Traffic Control System for DGT in Home Office and the Early Nuclear Alert System for Home Office plus other classified projects to the Intelligence Agency.
In 1996 he founded Movildat SA together with Iberdrola Group to develop and market a fleet Management and vehicle location service based on GPS and Wireless GSM/GPRS communications.
The company developed a state of the art technology for Fleet Management and was acquired in year 2000 by Minorplanet Systems PLC, from 2000 to the end of 2003 Ramon Leonato drove the company from 1M USD in revenues to 25 M Euros.
In January 2004 he joined Jeffrey Morris to develop and create Amteus Ltd a company that has developed a new concept for Internet Secure Communications.
